Comment comprendre l'art des années 1980 et 1990 ? L'objectif des auteurs est de souligner les dernières tendances de l'art à l'aube du troisième millénaire et de donner une idée de ce que sera l'art du XXIe siècle. L'oeuvre de chacun des 137 artistes retenus couvre ainsi une période inférieure à vingt ans et se trouve donc encore en pleine évolution.
Sur quatre pages, un texte concis présente le travail de chaque artiste et une grande place est accordée à la reproduction de ses oeuvres. Le choix d'un classement par ordre alphabétique permet d'éviter les jugements de valeur et de voir cohabiter des artistes très différents les uns des autres ; il met en évidence l'extrême diversité des positions et rend compte de la vitalité de la scène artistique contemporaine. REVUE This book is a great reference to the art & artists of the 80's and 90's. More picture book than words, which is often more relevant than explaining what one is looking at. This book pretty much covers those artists that we've read about in the last twenty years, and now provides you with a reference to them. There are a few commentaries and statements, and will give you an idea of where art is, or possibly headed. I can recommend this as a very good looking and nice addition to ones art book library!
