The original designs were found in Egypt, Persia (now Iran), and Syria. They have been meticulously re-drawn and digitized for this publication, with special attention paid to the underlying mathematical structures used to create the designs. The designs are interlocking, so it is possible to create larger patterns by repeating the components.

I have the earlier edition and the CD is useful. The files on the CD are in PDF form.
If you want ready made patterns, not colored, have a computer & a graphics
program then this could be useful. You will not learn about symmetry patterns
from this book. (Unless they've added such material, which seems unlikely
considering it has fewer pages.) To make your own repeat patterns, Designing
Tessellations : The Secrets of Interlocking Patterns by Jinny Beyer, is the
best.
